What are the dorms really like at University of Georgia?
In my experience the low-rises/lower 5 (Boggs, Church, Hill, Mell, Lipscomb) were pretty clean and up-to-date since they were recently renovated. The rooms all have a sink inside which makes it really convienent, but we still had communal bathrooms. All the stalls in the communal bathrooms had a floor to ceiling door for privacy and since the lower 5 dorms all got renovated, I would say they were very clean. Myers Quad dorms (Myers, Soule, Rutherford, Mary Lyndon) all share the quad, which can be nice when they have events, but during football games it can be noisy since they set up tailgaiting pretty early in the morning. Rutherford is the only one of the 4 that has a full bathroom (sink, shower, toilet) inside the rooms, but Rutherford is notorious for being hard to get as freshmen, since most of the building is occupied by upperclassmen. The downside to having the bathroom in the room is that you and your roommate have to take turns cleaning it. However, Rutherford has a ton of study spaces and has a old mansion type of vibe to it. Myers Hall is decent, but I've heard mixed opinions about its communal bathrooms. The "doors" to the showers are just a standard stall door with a medium sized gap between the floor and the door plus a curtain further inside. Soule is an all girls dorm, but I don't have much experience with it, and I assume it is a more quiet dorm. Mary Lyndon is similar to Myers but I have heard they have issues with cleanliness and bugs. The high rises (Brumby, Russell, Oglethorpe, Creswell) are known for being more social, but its not limited to the high rises. In my experience, lots of people I knew during rush lived in the low-rises as well. The order I typed the high rises in are basically how I would rank them from best to worst. The first 2 and Creswell have communal bathrooms, and O-House has 4 people sharing a bathroom between 2 rooms. Like 2 people in 1 room, a shared bathroom in the middle, and another 2 people in the adjacent room sharing that bathroom as well. Creswell is by far the worst and lives up to its reputation if you've heard. The rooms are old, the bathrooms are yellow with mold and dark, and the elevators shake and make noises when in use. Last year, they had a flood where multiple floors flooded with brown water and water was flowing down the stairs. Lots of people got sick (Creswell Cough) from the mold inside the rooms too. The one good thing about Creswell is that it is very social. Brumby and Russell are about the same, but Brumby does have a big hill you have to walk over which can be annoying. And the last common freshmen dorm is Building 1516, which is basically next to the gym. They do have bigger rooms (not by much though), but it can be annoying to have to use the buses to get to classes or anywhere honestly. It is not really in walking distance from the student center or classes so take that as you will. There are other dorms that I haven't mentioned but those typically are occupied by upperclassmen. Let me know if you have any other questions.
