Asked by a high schooler
ReportI graduated highschool with a not so great GPA. I took care of family dealing with cancer until they passed and then traveled and volunteered. When I wanted to go to college, I first went to my local community college, kept up a great GPA of 3.9 and got involved in Student Government. I completely my associates, applied for the Presidential Transfer Scholarship to UAB, got it and then transferred to UAB. I'd say if your GPA isn't high enough start at a community college. If you want to travel first travel and then write about it in an essay. All these things help, a good GPA and lived experiences.
