I wish more students knew about opportunities outside of college, and in their colleges if they decide to go immediately after high school. One thing I think every high schooler should know is that life is greater than college or military especially of you aren’t sure what route you want to go. Take a gap year, find work, workshops and networking opportunities, and work on yourself. It’s okay, you’re not a failure. You have time as long as you’re alive.

What I love most about Norfolk State University is the sense of community and the opportunities to get involved. As a freshman, I joined organizations like Genesis, TRIO, Pathfinders, and the Women’s Initiative, and I had the chance to attend conferences such as TMCF DevCon, where I developed professionally and expanded my network. What surprised me most about college was that it’s about so much more than academicsbuilding relationships, taking on leadership roles, and getting involved on campus
