What are the dorms really like at Towson University ?
There’s different dorm styles Towson offers, both on and off campus but still close in close proximity to the main school building. Most freshman would get put in either the towers A, B,C or D , residence tower, Scarborough, Prettyman, Newell, Richmond. Towers offer either a double room ( you and a roommate) , or a triple( you and two roommate) , they all come with a mini fridge and microwave , desk and chair for each person and closets,with a shared bathroom that’s gets cleaned regularly so no worries about that. It’s also pretty spacious as well and has nice views of campus. Towers feels like the center of campus, it’s close to the union building and most academic buildings. And it’s easy to make friends here cause of the dorm events hosted by Ra’s.
Residence tower is also really nice, it offers either single room, or a double( you and roommate) it also comes with a mini fridge and microwave. It has really comfy living spaces( living room style) on each floor that’s great for building bonds and making friends. This building has a standard open space kitchen on the main floor that’s great for whipping up nice meals. This building is closer to the stores like Whole Foods, Starbucks, canes and other off campus food locations.
Newell, prettyman, Richmond and Scarborough are the older buildings. They are quite spacious as well, it offers single or double rooms( you and roommate) as well. It also offers shared bathroom which are cleaned very regularly.These buildings don’t have elevators because they’re not high rise buildings so you get your steps in if you get in here. There’s lovely living spaces both inside and outside and around these buildings. There also nice distance from academic buildings.
In west village, it’s a combination of on and off campus housing but still technically on campus but with a different application process. There’s Douglass for honors freshman, Harris, Tubman, Barnes, Marshall, Towson run apartments. These are considered premium housing. Harris and Tubman are town buildings so you get the same experience living in either of them. Harris/ Tubman offers double rooms with private bathrooms for just you and your roommate. These buildings rooms are really spacious and come with a sink and mirror. The closest is also really spacious and also have extra storage furniture that can be moved around. The lobby has a coffee station for the coffee lovers as well.
Barnes and Douglass are similar to Harris and Tubman as well.
Marshall is a bit different because it also offers single rooms. It has lovely living spaces as well. And shared bathroom with you and suitemate(s) .
Another off campus housing in west village is millennium, this is and apartment style building, with all the amenities a regular apartment has like , single separate rooms, living area, standard kitchen. This building is harder to get into for freshmen.
West village is located across the Towson bridge from campus, it’s a longer distance to the main academic buildings but the school shuttle buses makes it feel like less of a problem. West village has a community like feeling because it looks like a little estate with similar looking buildings. There’s also west village dining hall there, that has the regular dining hall spread as well as panda express and Einstein bagels and also tiger express ( for snacks, open 24/7)
