What mental health and academic support does Cal State San Marcos offer?

Your tuition pays for ~6 sessions per academic year with one of the campus counselors. The SHCS (student health & counseling center) has various support groups and their counselors were lovely, as i utilized both services. Academic advising is also accesible as theres a live chatroom on Teams + appointments with your major advisors. Is Cal State San Marcos worth the cost, and how good is the financial aid?

If you have financial aid, yes yes yes! My tution was 90% paid for via the Cal Grant B. If you're paying out of pocket, it may be worth the cost as a public CSU. Any other private schools will be way more expensive. CSUSM prides itself in having more than half of their students being first generation, making it one of the more resourceful and accessible CSU's. How hard are the academics at Cal State San Marcos?

Each college department varies. CSTEM and COBA colleges (computer science, engineering, bio, business majors) can be more challenging with more demanding professors. I was in CHABSS (humanities, arts, social behavior sciences) and I loved my doable curriculum and flexible professors. That said, I transferred from a community college and didn't find academics hard. If you'd like to further discuss academics, feel free to schedule a meeting!
