About Trinity
College was a huge step for me, and it can feel so much better to go in feeling prepared. I'm here to answer all that I can. In my experience, Missoula's campus is beautiful! I've found more community here than I ever expected. The arts program in particular is a hidden gem, and my professors have all been great. Many students I've met have become friends, and there is quite a diverse student population. I never expected it, but attending the University of Montana has changed my life.

What mental health and academic support does University of Montana Missoula offer?
The university's Curry Health Center offers counseling, psychiatry, and more right on campus, which has been extremely important to me. There are also groups on campus that are dedicated to mental health or support groups. The academic support may depend on major, but especially for general education requirements there are study groups. Professors generally want to help you succeed and encourage you to express when you might need support. In my experience, they really look out for you, with a few exceptions. You might have to dig a little for the info as some of this isn't advertised super well.

How diverse and inclusive does University of Montana Missoula actually feel?
As an LGBTQ+ student, this is a very important aspect for my college experience. I've made a much more diverse friend group than in my Montana high school. I was honestly a bit amazed at the amount of different types of people when I first started attending. If we're still comparing to my high school, it is overall much more inclusive. There are groups, clubs, and offices dedicated to many groups of people that you can find help or community in. You might encounter some issues at individual levels with other students or a couple of professors, but overall it has been an inclusive experience for me.

Is the campus and area around University of Montana Missoula safe?
As an LGBTQ+ student on campus, safety is a really big deal to me. I've had a better experience here than I expected, especially compared to my small Montana hometown. One nice thing is that there are emails that get sent when there is any significant reported safety concern, detailing what, when, where, and what to do in the scenario. It has put my mind at ease sometimes. Around Missoula depends on where exactly you're at to be honest, but I've personally never had a particular problem anywhere. Big events are often around though, which brings more people and more opportunity for safety concerns. Just something I keep in my mind if there's large happenings.
