ReportGood grades and meaningful extracurricular activities are definitely important for getting into UC San Diego, but I personally think my PIQ essays played a huge role in my application. Instead of trying to write what I thought admissions officers wanted to hear, I focused on being authentic and sharing experiences that genuinely reflected who I am, what I value, and how I've grown. Looking back, I think the strongest essays are often the ones that feel personal and unique rather than overly focused on impressing admissions. Your grades and activities show what you've done, but your PIQs are your opportunity to show who you are beyond your resume. My advice is to be honest, tell your story, and let your personality come through rather than trying to write what you think is the "perfect" college essay.
